Carrie Groomes
Carrie Groomes, a retired CFK employee and alumnae of CFK, found her passion at the college in 1999. Over the course of 21 years Carrie held a variety of positions at the college including leading the College Reach Out Program. She guided over 200 at-risk students towards a full scholarship and college enrollment. She tirelessly pursued grants, collaborated with local schools, and arranged tutoring to ensure these students felt at ease on a college campus. Her generosity extended to opening her home to students in need, offering both lodging, emotional support, and encouragement. Beyond CFK, she served on boards and hosted visiting students for community service. Carrie’s commitment led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree and establish the Groomes Family Legacy Scholarship in 2023, leaving an enduring impact on education in the Keys.
