Christine Nottage & Steve Wainstead
Following the wedding of Christine Nottage and Steve Wainstead almost ten years ago, they embarked on a scuba honeymoon. Christine became certified in scuba diving and it truly changed her life. Not long afterwards, they moved to Key West where they were fortunate enough to live for three years.
While in Key West, Christine attended The College of the Florida Keys and completed the Marine Environmental Technology (MET) program. She had many fantastic professors, classes and experiences – professors like Dr. Brylske, Dr. Irwin, Dr. Neely and many more who inspired her and helped her to get where she is today. While taking classes she was asked to teach and she found that she really enjoyed that as well.
As a Senior Adjunct Professor at CFK, she has been teaching for more than six years in the Business and Marine Science & Technology departments. Today she is also the Aquarist & Dive Safety Officer at SEA LIFE Aquarium in Charlotte, NC.
Recently, Christine and Steve decided to talk about how they could give back to a place that had given her so much and they decided to create a scholarship fund to help students in the marine science programs at CFK – the Nottage-Wainstead Scholarship for Marine Sciences was born!
