Sheldon Perloff Memorial Fund

The Sheldon Perloff Memorial Fund was established in memory of Sheldon “Shel” Perloff. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but later moved to the Florida Keys, eventually settling in Sugarloaf. Shel Perloff was responsible for expanding and improving CROP (College Reach Out Program), more widely known as the College Explorers, located at The College of the Florida Keys. This program was aimed at creating positive educational opportunities for promising middle school and high school students from the Lower Keys. Many of the young people assisted by this program eventually moved on to further educational pursuits, successful business positions and productive private lives. Shel Perloff was often recognized for his dedication to the program, receiving numerous awards and citations of excellence from the College and other organizations. He was also a mentor to students of the College community.
