Open Door Grant for Law Enforcement

The Open Door Grant Program (Open Door) was created to provide funds to support student completion of short-term, high-demand credit and non-credit career and technical education (CTE) programs at career centers and Florida College System (FCS) institutions.

Terms and Conditions:
The Open Door Grant for Law Enforcement requires students to:

1. Be sponsored for, admitted to and enrolled full-time or part-time in an eligible program at CFK. These programs include:

  • Crossover Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement
  • Law Enforcement Officer
  • Corrections Officer

2. Be a resident of the state of Florida.

3. Be unemployed, underemployed, or furloughed.

4. Eligible students must meet the College’s standards of satisfactory academic progress, as applicable.

5. Meet all requirements set by CFK to document compliance with the items above.

Eligible costs: Costs covered under the Open Door Grant for Law Enforcement include tuition and fees up to a maximum amount of $3,000.

Recipient Obligations:
1. Open Door allows students to earn scholarships up to $3,000.

2. Open Door also requires that the recipient complete the program within twelve (12) months of enrollment or be responsible for one-third (1/3rd) of the cost of the program in the event of non-completion.

3. Recipients of Open Door will also be required to obtain program certification after completion of the program.

4. Recipients of The Open Door Grant for Law Enforcement must be sponsored by an eligible employer.
