Thomas A. Faulkenberry Memorial Scholarship

Spring 2025

To honor the memory Thomas Faulkenberry, a CFK alumnus and retired Coast Guard Lieutenant, recognized for his passion as an avid diver and advocate for veterans. After retiring from the Coast Guard in 2015, Tommy relocated to Key West, where he pursued his passion for diving and earned a degree in Marine Environmental Technology from The College of the Florida Keys. He mentored fellow veterans, volunteered with the Combat Wounded Veterans Challenge, and was deeply involved in local military organizations. Tommy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and a dedicated advocate for veterans and the ocean.

The Thomas A. Faulkenberry Memorial Scholarship is available to CFK students who are currently enrolled in the following program or pursuing the following certificates:

  • Associate in Science in Marine Environmental Technology
  • Professional Research Diving Certification
  • Professional Dive Instructor Certification

Award is $1,000. Eligible students must be Florida residents, enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the awarded term, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and meet standards of satisfactory academic progress.

Scholarship recipients are also required to:
1. Confirm registration in courses at CFK in the term in which the scholarship is to be used.
2. Complete a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer service to the CFK Foundation and/or approved charity if requested. (Details will be sent separately if/when applicable.)
3. Attend the Annual CFK Scholarship Recipient & Donor Social at the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the William A. Seeker Campus in Key West during the Fall semester. The event will occur on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. Invitations will be distributed closer to the event.
4. Demonstrate and maintain the scholarship criteria and requirements.

The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw or modify the student’s award based on the student’s fulfillment of required scholarship criteria.
