Hemingway Look-Alike Society Scholarships

FALL 2026

The Hemingway Look-Alike Society, comprised of winners of the famous contest, funds this scholarship as a way to honor Ernest Hemingway and to support education and career training in the community where the legendary writer called home for many years. Applicants must be in either the AS in Nursing, the AS in Marine Environmental Technology, a first responder program, or a U.S. veteran, active-duty military, reservist, or dependent. The scholarship awards 12 scholarships at $2,500 each, split equally between the fall and spring semesters ($1,250 each), and can be applied toward tuition and fees at CFK.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Be enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours per term).
• Complete the 2026-27 FAFSA and meet satisfactory academic progress standards.
• Meet one of the following criteria:
1. Be enrolled in: AS in Nursing, AS in Marine Environmental Technology, AS in Emergency Medical Services, Paramedic program, EMT program, Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Corrections Officer Academy, crossover training academy, OR be a U.S. veteran, active-duty military, reservist, or dependent.
2. Submit a writing sample.

Preference is given to students in the above listed priority programs.

Scholarship Recipients are also required to:

1. Confirm registration in courses at CFK in the term(s) in which the scholarship is to be used.
2. Complete a minimum of 8 hours of volunteer service to the CFK Foundation and/or approved charity if requested. (Details will be sent separately if/when applicable.)
3. Attend the Hemingway Look-Alike Society’s Annual Scholarship Recognition Event on Wednesday, July 23, 2026 during Hemingway Days in Key West at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, Key West, FL.
4. Attend the annual CFK Scholarship Social in Key West during the Fall semester. The event typically occurs in September, and details will be distributed when confirmed.
5. Demonstrate and maintain the scholarship criteria and requirements.

The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw or modify the student’s award based on the student’s fulfillment of required scholarship criteria.
